Five paths lead to success. It is necessary for a real spinner to master all possible ways of carrying jig baits – then he will be ready to catch in any conditions in any type of water. Only this is not the case! This motto is followed by most fishermen and uses only one and the same fishing method. Sure, and they catch it. But how often? I think a smart spinner needs to use different techniques depending on the type of water body and what kind of fish is being caught. Spinning rods are also essential when trying to squeeze all out of the trip.
There is no doubt that one method of fishing may not be suitable in all conditions. In total, I use at least five basic modes of delivery, which I partially combine with each other.
Aggressive way of doing things. When the bait reaches the bottom, the bait jumps up to the middle layer of water with the help of sudden, tilt-like movements while lifting the rod. This simulates a fast-swimming fish that periodically stops and walks down.
Spin the casting bait and allow it to lower to the bottom
Â
This is done by allowing the spinning down to a horizontal position. Also, do not forget to twist part of the net at the same time so that the line is tensioned and you feel constant contact with the bait.Â
This mode of delivery is especially useful when predators are active. It is advisable to catch pike, starlings and perch exactly when the water is clear and the water temperature is above + 15 ° С.Â
On the other hand, at dusk, in deep or turbid water, the efficiency of this passage is significantly reduced.
Stepwise conduct
This method of conducting is used most often. The spinning rods is lifted from the horizontal position to the vertical, but not in one motion, but with three to five stretches. In this way, the ripper or twister moves towards the middle layer of water, accelerating it and slowing it down.Â
The line must be kept under constant tension so as not to lose contact with the bait. At the same time, the bait must descend slowly towards the bottom. For fish, especially large ones, this is obviously very popular and attracts attention. However, it is unfortunate that this method may not always work.
The spinning rods is lifted up in three to four short stretches. A pause is then made until the bait lands on the bottom
Â
In this way, it is advisable to catch, for example, in turbid water and at a sufficiently low temperature. Other conveying techniques are more suitable for very low temperature water and very turbid water.Â
This method works equally well in stagnant water as well as in current. The speed of the current must always be taken into account when passing the bait. When catching in the current, it is also necessary to remember that spinning rods is not the only force that affects the bait. The higher and stronger it is lifted, the farther and faster it is carried away by the current. As a result, the bait quickly disappears from the sight of the fish, i.e. it “works” for a shorter period of time.
Carrying
This option is more suitable in cold weather. After casting, the bait descends against the current and moves to the bottom when exposed to it. It is very important to choose the right weight for your headband. Too heavy bait will not work, but will only plow the bottom, which threatens frequent hooks behind obstacles and loss of bait. And too light a ripper or twister will go high above the bottom and not attract the attention of predators.

Super way for cold water
The bait is slowly pulled to the bottom. The unevenness of the bottom must be felt with the same spinning rods.
Â
Bottom jumping. In calm water, a lazy predator can be knocked out if you use spinning rods to constantly revive the bait by pulling it to the bottom in short jumps. After throwing the bait, as always, wait until it lands on the bottom. The bait is then guided 5-7 cm above the bottom in very short, playful movements. A prerequisite is that the line must be kept taut. The spinning rods can be lowered to a horizontal position after pulling or raised to a vertical position after a short pause.
Â
Short bait jumps over the bottom are sometimes the best recipe
Force the bait to work with short sudden spins. Underwater, it all looks like a small fish is roaring to the bottom in search of food. The only disadvantage of this method of fishing is that such a slow passage does not allow for a quick inspection of larger areas of the water body.Â
In conclusion
It often happens that predators stick much higher and therefore all the methods described here may not work.
Smooth running. It is also possible to catch fish this way. For example, perch in the middle layers of water and closer to the surface really look indifferently at the evenly flowing bait.
Â
Sometimes, especially at night, starlings rise and rampage in the middle layers of water.
In this situation, the bait should be passed by twisting the line evenly.
Â
Sometimes pikes also like bait running and spinning rods. And here the starlings ignore him during the day. If the probable location of predators is determined, this method should definitely be tested. This method will be even more effective if you use a headband with a rotator.Â
